

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The best way to understand how class band works is to try it out, however we understand you may have a few questions. Below are a few questions and answers that may help, but if we don't answer your question then please send us a message and we will come back to you.
Do I need an instrument to join?
No, not at the start. In the first session you will be given the opportunity to try all the instruments. Some people are more suited to certain instruments, so we will guide you to the best instrument for you. These instruments are provided for all class band sessions for as long as you require, you can use these for as long as you need.
Once your settled on an instrument and confident that you are going to continue, then you may purchase your own instrument. This will help you develop your playing further as you will be able to do practice at home.
We can also offer advise on instruments when purchasing and may be able to get you educational discount on Yamaha Instruments.
How often and how long are the sessions?
Sessions are once per week lasting a total of one hour.
We run during school term times only, delivering 37 sessions per year.
What if I cant make one week?
As part of the learning experience we always repeat information from week to week. This helps reinforce the knowledge and retain the knowledge. So if you miss one week you will be able to catch back up very quickly.
Am I too old to learn?
Absolutely not!
As we age, engaging in creative and social activities becomes increasingly important for our overall well-being. Group music-making offers a unique blend of cognitive, emotional, and social benefits, especially for seniors.

Is my child old enough to join?
Our normal recommended age is 8 years old, however this is dependant on the individual child. We have had children who struggle with the sessions at 8. If your child is struggling then we will always advise to stop the sessions and re try at an older age.
