ALTER EGO
Newcastle-based ALTER EGO is a jazz combo composed of 6 like-minded musicians, each with experience in a variety of musical styles. Over their 15-year existence, they have gradually moved away from the standard jazz repertoire originally performed by artists like Miles Davis, Art Blakey, Bobby Watson, and Hank Mobley, introducing new, original material in a more contemporary style.
Their configuration of three front-line horns and rhythm section allows for tightly structured arrangements, harmonically rich ensemble passages, exciting rhythmic interplay, and inventive improvised solos. They have entertained jazz audiences at the Gateshead, Durham & Darlington Jazz Festivals, Opus4 Darlington, Blaydon Jazz Club, the Fox Hexham, J’s & B’s Fenham, the Globe in Newcastle, and more.
